Editorial: Tribes should combat problem gambling

printer friendly
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer calls on tribes to do their part in treating gambling addictions.

The paper ran a series on problem gambling this week. "[A]lmost nothing is spent on treatment for problem gambling," the paper observes.

The paper says tribal and private gaming brings in $1.3 billion a year. "We must find a way for all those who profit from gambling -- private casinos, the tribes, local government and the state -- to meet their moral obligation to help treat problem gambling," the paper says.
