Oneida Nation's off-track betting room a success

The Oneida Nation's foray into horse and dog racing is doing better than expected.

The tribe added an off-track betting room, the first of its kind in a Wisconsin tribal casino. With almost no advertising, attendance has been steady, a casino director said.

The horse and dogtrack industry has brought a suit to challenge the gaming compacts the state signed with the tribes. Since tribe opened their casinos, the tracks have seen their business decline.
