Coyote Valley Pomos finally close doors to casino

printer friendly
The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians of California closed the doors to its casino on Tuesday in response to an order from the National Indian Gaming Commission.

The tribe is asking NIGC to quickly review the status of the Notice of Violation issued last week by NIGC chairman Phil Hogen. An NIGC spokesperson said a decision will be made by end of day Thursday.

The tribe is operating Class III games without a compact, the NOV states. The tribe says it is nearing a deal with the state but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) has reportedly rejected an agreement other tribes signed in 1999.
