Seneca Nation claims support for suburban casino

printer friendly
The Seneca Nation says an "an acting deputy assistant secretary of the interior" has approved the tribe's plans for a casino in suburban Buffalo, The Buffalo News reports.

The letter reportedly concludes that the tribe's compact with the state does not require the casino to be built in Buffalo. Local officials have filed a lawsuit to force the tribe to move to downtown Buffalo.

The tribe did not identify the Interior official who wrote the letter. It could be George Skibine, the acting deputy assistant secretary for policy and economic development, or Aurene Martin, the principal deputy assistant secretary.
