A state judge in Kansas dropped charges against the manager of the Wyandotte Nation's casino in downtown Kansas City.
Ellis Enyart, 52, had been charged for violating state laws against gambling. But the judge said the state had no authority to charge him for a crime that allegedly occurred on Indian land, where federal law is supreme.
The tribe is based in Oklahoma but has trust land in Kansas. The National Indian Gaming Commission says gaming cannot take place there.
