Republican wants casinos limited in Connecticut

printer friendly
A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate says any new casinos in Connecticut should be limited to the southeastern part of the state.

The area is already home to two tribal casinos. Retired businessman Jack Orchulli told the Associated Press future casinos "should be forced to place it where the others are."

At least two more casinos are on the horizon. The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation and the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation have gained federal recognition. The Schaghticokes are looking at southern Connecticut. The Eastern Pequots haven't said where they might locate a casino but they are based in southeastern Connecticut.

Orchulli is running against Sen. Chris Dodd (D), who tried to put a moratorium on recognition of new tribes.
