The Seminole Tribe of Florida spent $5.6 million to oppose a ballot initiative that could clear the way for slot machines in two counties.

The tribe's involving in the No on Amendment 4 campaign was not disclosed until after the election. Tribal leaders said they wanted to protect their casinos, which offer electronic Class II games.

Amendment 4 was approved in Broward and Miami-Dade counties with 51 percent of the vote. It will set up another vote to legalize slot machines at seven racetracks and jai alai facilities.
