Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle (D) is finalizing negotiations on new compacts that will look at lot like the agreement that was the subject of a legal dispute with state Republicans.
The state Supreme Court ruled that Doyle exceeded his authority by allowing tribes to offer more Class III games under an open-ended compact. Republicans complained that the tribes weren't sharing enough revenues.
According to Administration Secretary Marc Marotta, the revised compacts will bring around $100 million to the state, which is about the same amount as the disputed agreement. The tribes will be able to offer the games that the court said were illegal, Marotta said.
