Wisconsin Supreme Court to rehear compact lawsuit

printer friendly
The Wisconsin Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to rehear a lawsuit over the legality of new tribal-state compacts.

The suit was filed by the owner of a failing dog track. It claims the state constitution bars the tribe's from offering certain Class III games.

The suit is one of two filed against the compacts. Republican lawmakers challenged Gov. Jim Doyle (D) over provisions that allow tribes to operate in perpetuity and expand their casinos. They also said tribes aren't sharing enough revenues with the state.
