The Navajo community of Shiprock will move forward with casino plans but is willing to discuss revenue sharing with the Navajo Nation government, Shiprock Chapter President Duane “Chili” Yazzie said.
The Shiprock Chapter signed an agreement with K-V Enterprises to pursue financing for a casino. But the Navajo government said the deal was void because the chapter is not authorized to offer gaming.
Yazzie said a casino in Shiprock, New Mexico, could bring $20 million in profits for the community.
