California AG fought tribe, then took backers' money

printer friendly
California attorney general Bill Lockyer took $25,000 from backers of a tribal casino he was trying to shut down, the Associated Press reports.

Lockyer threatened to close the Dry Creek Rancheria's casino over safety violations at its casino under construction. But nothing came of the affair, according to the AP, except Lockyer taking $20,000 from Nevada Gold & Casinos Inc., which owns 69 percent of the casino, and $5,000 from Quest Entertainment Inc., whose founder is an adviser to Nevada Gold.

The tribe's casino opened in September 2002.
