"Recently the Red Lake, White Earth and Leech Lake Tribal Councils released a legal opinion that supports the constitutionality of the Minnesota Gaming Fairness Act. The Gaming Fairness Act is Gov. Tim Pawlenty's proposal that provides an opportunity for the state and northern Indian tribes to participate in the economic benefits of gaming in Minnesota.
The governor's proposal provides much-needed assistance to the Red Lake, White Earth and Leech Lake tribal communities, plus much-needed funding for the state budget. The Gaming Fairness Act is sound legislation that can withstand constitutional challenge."
