No new money for towns near two tribal casinos

Connecticut lawmakers have rejected a proposal to give more money to five Connecticut towns located near the state's two tribal casinos.

The towns sought additional aid for impacts of the casinos on their communities. But Democratic leaders only gave them an extra $250,000.

The Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation contribute 25 percent of their slot revenues to the state. Some of the money is distributed to local communities based on a complex formula that includes need.
