Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) was criticized on Thursday for not negotiating a compact for an off-reservation casino.
The Iowa Tribe is seeking a casino near Wichita, hundreds of miles from its reservation on the Kansas-Nebraska border. Former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight, a lobbyist for tribe, blasted Sebelius for refusing to talk with the tribe.
Sebelius has negotiated a compact for an off-reservation casino with the Kickapoo Tribe and the Sac and Fox Nation. The compact has not received legislative approval.
