Officials in the town of Saugerties has told New York Gov. George Pataki (R) that they want to continue discussions with the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma for an off-reservation casino.
Officials say they aren't supporting the deal just yet. But they want to get more information about the tribe's plans for a $500 million casino resort.
The tribe and Pataki previously reached an agreement to settle the tribe's land claim in exchange for a casino in the Catskills. The town of Saugerties is located near the Catskills.
The Catskills deal is on hold as a result of the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Oneida Nation case.
