State tells tribe that Internet promotion is illegal

printer friendly
The Connecticut Division of Special Revenue [Web Site] said on Thursday that an Internet promotion offered by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is illegal.

The state said the tribe's "PlayAway" game violated state and federal laws. The promotion allowed people to buy keno tickets at the casino and then go online to determine whether they won a prize.

The tribe has said that no actual wagering takes place on the Internet. The decision is being reviewed, a tribal spokesperson said.
