Investigation of Lytton Band bingo machines sought

printer friendly
California Assemblywoman Loni Hancock (D) is asking the state attorney general to investigate the video bingo machines being operated by the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.

The tribe started offering 500 bingo machines after its Class III compact ran into opposition among state lawmakers. The tribe says it has a right to engage in Class II gaming on trust land in downtown San Pablo.

But Hancock claims the bingo machines are really slot machines. She claims the tribe is exploiting a "loophole" in the law even though the state tried unsuccessfully to get the U.S. Supreme Court to review a bingo/slot machine case.
