The president of the Quechan Nation is blasting "rich, greedy tribes" for derailing his tribe's gaming compact in California.
The Quechan Nation signed a compact with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) for a modest casino off Interstate 8. But other tribes that already own casinos opposed the deal, saying it was too restrictive.
The compact never made it out of a legislative committee whose members received campaign contributions from the tribes with casinos, The Yuma Sun reported. That has Quechan President Mike Jackson upset.
"I won't let another tribe dictate our future to us," Jackson told the paper. "These rich, greedy tribes ... we'll definitely fight back."
