Cayuga Nation shuts down second gaming hall

printer friendly
The Cayuga Nation has shut down a second Class II facility that was operating on ancestral land in New York.

The tribe said the closure of the facility in Union Springs is temporary. It follows the closing of another gaming hall in Seneca Falls.

Both facilities were operating on land that is not held in trust. Local officials were moving to impose local laws on the tribe.

In related news, the Oneida Nation let Oneida County health inspectors tour the tribal casino but whether or not the county will enforce its laws is still an open issue. The two sides are in negotiations.
