Navajo Nation president says gaming is where it's at

printer friendly
Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. isn't worried about the loss of royalties from the Black Mesa coal mine because he says the tribe is getting into gaming.

Shirley says two casinos, one east of Holbrook near Sanders, Arizona, and another in Shiprock, New Mexico, could be open by the fall. Their revenues would more than make up for the loss of the royalties, Shirley says.

The two casinos are expected to generate $100 million a year for the tribe.
