GOP lobbyists working against off-reservation casinos

printer friendly
A group of Republican lobbyists is working hard to derail off-reservation casinos in Wisconsin.

Brian Nemoir is the executive director of Enough! Inc., a group opposed to three tribal casinos. Nemoir is a former state Republican Party official and he is working with a former Republican state senator and two ex-aides to former Republican governor Tommy G. Thompson.

Little is known about Enough! and Nemoir won't say who is paying his salary or the fees of the lobbyists. Some state lawmakers have asked the group to disclose its backers.

The Menominee Nation, the Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewa and the St. Croix Chippewa and Bad River Chippewa bands have proposed off-reservation casinos that will need the approval of the state governor. Enough! is lobbying for a bill that would require the state Legislature to approve off-reservation casinos.
