Navajo Nation study identifies six gaming sites

A study commissioned by the Navajo Nation identifies six sites on the reservation for potential casinos.

One site has already been announced by Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. He said the first casino will be located in Nahata Dziil, near Sanders, Arizona.

The other sites identified in the report prepared by GVA Marquette Advisors are: Shiprock, New Mexico; the I-40/Gallup area; Cameron, Arizona; Page, Arizona; and Chinle, Arizona.

Previously, the Navajo Nation signed a compact with the state of New Mexico for a casino at Tohajillee, outside of Albuquerque. Tohajillee is part of the Navajo Nation but is not connected to the main reservation.
