One to Watch: Sheila Morago, Indian gaming advocate

printer friendly
The Arizona Republic interviews Sheila Morago, a member of the Gila River Indian Community and the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association. She's in the spotlight after being named one of 25 people to watch by the magazine Global Gaming Business.

Morago says it was an honor to make the list. "There are people in the gaming industry much huger than me," she says. "They pick people who are in the background."

Morago says Indian gaming is facing some challenges in the coming months, with possible amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act in the works. "Any change to the act and the way tribes are treated under the Federal Election Commission and Indian gaming commission is going to change the way everybody else works, including us."
