Mashantucket Tribe pitches Philadelphia slot facility

printer friendly
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut was in Pennsylvania on Monday to pitch a slot machine facility in south Philadelphia.

Michael Thomas, the chairman of the tribe, made the presentation. He said the facility would generate jobs and revenue for the city and local charities.

"We will help Philadelphia where Philadelphia needs it most," Thomas said, the Associated Press reported.

The Gaming Control Board also heard from gaming mogul Donald Trump, who wants to build a facility in northwest Philadelphia. A total of 14 slot licenses at locations throughout the state are being awarded, with 22 petitioners, including the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, hoping to land a spot.
