The Eastern Shoshone Tribe has signed the first-ever Class III compact in the state of Wyoming.
The tribe will be able to offer slot machines, black jack, craps, roulette, wagering games and electronic games. The deal was negotiated with Gov. Dave Freudenthal (D) after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that all forms of Class III gaming are allowed in the state.
Freudenthal had been refusing to negotiate with the Northern Arapaho Tribe when the 10th Circuit made its decision. The Arapahos then went to the Interior Department to obtain approval for Class III gaming.
Freudenthal says the Eastern Shoshone compact mimics the Northern Arapaho's gaming rules.
