printer friendly
The Seneca Nation plans to resume work on its casino in downtown Buffalo this week after a visit by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The tribe began tearing down a silo at the site but the EPA the work was violating the Clean Air Act. The tribe's contractor is addressing the issue, an EPA spokesperson said.

The $125 million Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino is being built on off-reservation land that was taken into trust pursuant to a land claim settlement. The Seneca Nation is the only tribe in the country to have utilized the land claim exception in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
