New Jersey casino business may head northeast

printer friendly

New Jersey's casinos were shut down this morning, a move that may send gamblers to tribal casinos in Connecticut.

A spokesperson for Mohegan Sun, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, said the casino has been contacted about the shutdown. He said four bus lines are considering new routes to Connecticut.

New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) announced a shutdown of the entire state government due to a budget impasse. The casinos are closing because the state won't be paying for casino inspectors to monitor the games.
