Tracking casino proposals across Indian Country.
"House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo’s get-tougher attitude to establishing Indian casinos on tribal lands is up for a committee vote today.

However, House Resolution 4893 omits important language offered by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. We urge Pombo, R-Tracy, to consider his fellow Californian’s amendment that would force the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians to take the normal route to establish a casino on acquired land, in this case, expanding Casino San Pablo to an originally planned 5,000-slot machine facility. Without nullifying the grandfather clause for the Lytton Band, granted in an amendment to an Indian gaming act in 2000 by Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, there won’t be any government oversight to prevent the controversial move at the off-reservation casino.

Who wants a casino with more space than a Wal-Mart Supercenter filled with slot machines that’s smack-dab in the middle of congested Interstate 80 in the North Bay?"
