City mails survey on Eastern Shawnee casino

The city of Canal Fulton, Ohio, mailed a survey to residents to seek their views on the Eastern Shawnee Tribe's proposed casino.

The survey asks just one question. The only responses possible are: "Yes. I want the city of Canal Fulton to negotiate a revenue-sharing agreement with the Eastern Shawnee Tribe for this resort and casino that would be approved by the citizens of Canal Fulton through a referendum," or "No. I do not want a resort and casino near my community."

The Oklahoma-based tribe filed a land claim in Ohio, its ancestral home. The tribe says it will settle for gaming rights.
