The Winnebago Tribe is asking the state of Nebraska to negotiate a Class III compact.
The tribe has been working with the Santee Sioux Tribe and the Omaha Tribe to put a casino referendum on the November ballot. But the state Supreme Court said their initiative was too similar to one that was rejected by state voters two years ago.
The state has refused to negotiate for Class III games. The Santee Sioux Tribe has asked the Interior Department for approval to offer certain games under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
