Three more Michigan tribal casinos on the way

printer friendly
Three Michigan tribes are inching closer to casinos of their own now that legal challenges are disappearing.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians finally broke ground on the Four Winds Casino Resort after a lawsuit was dismissed. The tribe plans to open the facility next August.

The Nottawasepi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians announced a settlement of a lawsuit that has held up its proposed casino. If all goes well, the tribe could up and running in two years.

The Gun Lake Band of Potawatomi Indians is still stuck in court. But the legal developments have the tribe optimistic.

Michigan is home to 23 tribal and non-tribal gaming facilities. The tribes reported revenues in excess of $980 million last year. They shared more than $19 million dollars with state and local governments.
