Compacts
Seminole Tribe on track for Class III gaming

The Seminole Tribe of Florida could have Class III rules in place by the end of November unless outgoing Gov. Jeb Bush (R) negotiates a compact.

The tribe and Bush broke off talks earlier this year. That prompted the Interior Department to get involved and issue rules that would allow the tribe to operate slot machines at its gaming facilities.

DOI says it will finalize the rules by the end of November. Tribal and state officials say it's possible that an agreement could be reached by that time.

The two candidates for governor, Republican Charlie Crist and Democrat Jim Davis, have said they support expanded gaming.
