Candidate hit on gaming by out-of-state tribes

New York gubernatorial candidate continues to face criticism for his stance on gaming by out-of-state tribes.

Eliot Spitzer, who currently serves as attorney general, said at a debate that he opposes out-of-state tribes. But his campaign said tribes with pending land claims don't count.

The Upstate Citizens for Equality, a group that is fighting the land claims, says Spitzer's stance is wrong. The group says tribes who left the state lost all their rights.

Spitzer says the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans from Wisconsin and the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma have ties to the state.

His Republican opponent, John Faso, opposes gaming by out-of-state tribes.
