NIGC releases Class II economic studies

printer friendly
The National Indian Gaming Commission has released two studies that examine the economic impact of proposed Class II regulations.

The first study was conducted by Alan Meister of the Analysis Group. The report concludes that the rules will have a "significant negative impact" on Class II gaming and the tribes that operate Class II gaming.

The second study was conducted by BMM North America. The report simulated a bingo game that would run under the proposed regulations.

Tribes nationwide oppose the rules, which would make draw a stronger line between Class II games like bingo and Class III games like slot machines. Some Class II games would be moved to the Class III category if the regulation is adopted, meaning tribes would have to get state permission to operate them.
