Norm DesRosiers, the longtime gaming commissioner for the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, has been tapped to join the National Indian Gaming Commission.
DesRosiers, who is non-Indian, fills a year-old vacancy on the panel. He replaces Nelson Westrin, who had been appointed by former Interior Secretary Gale Norton.
Kempthorne announced the appointment yesterday, triggering a 30-day comment period. Comments are due by January 5, 2007 [Federal Register Notice].
