Big money at stake in Mashpee Wampanoag gaming

How much money could the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe pull in a year if full-scale gaming is legalized in Massachusetts.

According to University of Massachusetts professor Clyde W. Barrow, at least $1 billion. He says that's the amount of money Massachusetts residents spend at the two tribal casinos in nearby Connecticut.

Not everyone agrees with the figures. But the tribe sees a big market and has enlisted two of the biggest names in gaming -- the backers of one of the Connecticut casinos -- to open a casino.

The location of the casino is not set. The tribe recently finalized a $1.8 million land deal in Middleboro for possible development.
