Arizona tribes report nearly $2B in revenue

Arizona's gaming tribes took in nearly $2 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, the state Department of Gaming reported on Monday.

The 15 tribes with casinos generated $1.94 billion in the year that ended June 30. That's an 8.6 percent increase from the $1.79 billion the year prior [PDF: Report\

"We are still looking good," Sheila Morago, the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, told The Arizona Republic. "I am just glad we are still on the rise."

Under compacts with the state, the tribes share a portion of their revenues. They contributed $92 million for education, trauma care and gambling-addiction treatment and $11.4 million to local governments.
