Seminole Tribe turns down one Las Vegas deal

printer friendly
The Seminole Tribe of Florida has turned down an offer to buy land on the Las Vegas strip.

A developer named Triple Five wanted to sell about 40 acres near the southern end of the strip. But the tribe wasn't interested.

“People are coming to the tribe with a variety of opportunities because they're aware of how successful they are. But there’s nothing on the table right now in Las Vegas," spokesperson Gary Bitner told The Las Vegas Sun.

The Seminoles are being approached by the Muckleshoot Tribe of Washington about a possible inter-tribal casino on 70 acres on the south end of the strip.

The Seminoles bought the Hard Rock restaurant chain in 2006 for nearly $1 billion but the tribe doesn't own the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, which was not part of the deal.
