The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma is planning to hire 1,200 people for its $300 million Downstream Casino
Resort.
The tribe has set up kiosks at a mall in Joplin, Kansas, to take job applications.
Between 800 to 900 people will be hired for the casino opening in July and the rest will be hired when the hotel opens in the fall.
The facility is located on three parcels of land in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. The gaming portion is on the Oklahoma side.
According to Cherokee County, Kansas, the land for the gaming portion wasn't taken into trust properly. The county has a lawsuit that seeks to stop construction on the casino [Complaint
