California inspects slots at tribal casinos

An inspection of slot machines at tribal casinos in California turned up multiple problems, according to the state.

Inspectors said 40 percent of machines were running obsolete software. This could result in shortchanges to gamblers, tribes and the state, the California Gambling Control Commission said.

Tribal representatives disagreed with the state's analysis. One lawyer said the software doesn't affect the integrity of the machines.
