The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is fighting another attempt to unionize at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The tribe says federal labor laws do not apply at the casino. The tribe has passed its own laws to address employment matters.
The National Labor Relations Board has not been receptive the sovereignty argument. The United Auto Workers held the first union election and the International Union of Operating
Engineers is holding another one next Thursday.
The International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers also wants to organize. The UAW has a new petition to represent racebook writers at the casino.
