The Seminole Tribe will host the largest poker tournament in Florida history, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
As many as 210 players will pay $3,000 to enter the tournament, the paper said. The tribe is keeping 20 percent of each entry fee in order to donate 70 percent of the total take to charity, as required by the tribal-state gaming compact.
The tribe won the right to offer slot machines and other Class III games after state voters legalized slots in southern Florida. A lawsuit challenges the 2004 voter initiative but it is not believed the case will have an effect on the tribe.
