Connecticut tribes to report slot machine revenues

Connecticut tribes are set to report their slot machine revenues for the month of August 2008.

The Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation have seen a drop in revenues in the past few months. Executives blame the downturn in the economy and high gas prices.

But there could be a bright spot, The Norwich Bulletin reports. Both tribes have nearly doubled the number of penny slot machines at their facilities, the paper says.

Players appear to be responding -- revenue from one-penny machines jumped 51 percent at Foxwoods Resort Casino and 32 percent at the Mohegan Sun Casino in July 2008, compared to July 2007.
