Letter: Mashantucket empire nearing collapse

"The fall of nations and empires often takes place over several generations. Sometimes, however, it's sudden and takes place virtually overnight. Are we on the verge of witnessing a collapse of Foxwoods Resort Casino?

It appears on the brink of default, seeking to restructure $2.3 billion worth of debt. Foxwoods was once the greatest creditor to Connecticut. It is now one of the largest debtors in Connecticut.

Foxwoods was essentially built by Richard “Skip” Hayward. It was done fraudulently. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe was federally recognized through a Special Act of Congress, a backroom political deal."
