Pequot casino employees get raise on anniversary

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut gave casino employees their first raise in two years.

Non-union employees at Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods will get a 2.5 percent raise in April. The announcement was made as the casino celebrates its 18th anniversary.

"As we all know, the economy continues to challenge our business levels as it has throughout the last 18 months," Michael Speller, the president of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, told employees in a memo, The New London Day reported. "During this difficult economic time, Tribal Council and Senior Management have been seeking ways to recognize our excellent Foxwoods Five Star Service that you have continued to provide to our guests. We want to express our thanks to you for continuing to improve our service levels."
