Former Scotts Valley chairman rallies for casino

Les Miller, a former chairman of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians of California, wants his tribe to consider a new site for a casino.

Miller is leading a rally tonight in hopes of persuading the tribe to buy the shuttered Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa. He said the site is within the tribe's traditional area and would generate jobs for Lake County.

"This is not just a tribal issue anymore, it's a community issue," Miller told The Lake County News.

The landless tribe signed a deal to pursue a casino in Richmond, in Contra Costa County. The National Indian Gaming Commission rejected the management contract last year, citing misleading information provided by investors.
