Navajo Nation moves forward with plan for flagship gaming facility

The Navajo Nation is moving forward with plans for its biggest gaming facility.

The tribe recently acquired about 406 acres off a major interstate in Arizona. The Navajo Nation Council approved a resolution to pave the way for the $100 million Twin Arrows Casino and Resort.

“By 2012, we can expect to see another 768 new jobs created, 549 in the casino and 219 in the hotel,” outgoing Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. said in his recent State of the Nation address, The Arizona Journal reported.

A federal law allows the tribe to annex certain lands to its reservation.
