Clock ticks on Stockbridge Munsee off-reservation casino compact

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has until February 19 to review a Class III gaming compact for the Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohican Indians of Wisconsin.

The tribe plans to open an off-reservation casino in the Catskills region of New York. The deal reportedly includes an exclusivity provision.

The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act gives the BIA 45 days to review a compact. The agency can either approve it, reject it or let it take effect.
