Coushatta Tribe starts work on $60M expansion project for casino


The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana broke ground on a $60 million expansion of the Coushatta Casino Resort.

The tribe is adding a seven-story hotel tower to the facility. The project will add 401 rooms to the hotel, bringing the total to more than 950.

"It's been a long time coming," Chairman Kevin Sickey said at the groundbreaking, The Alexandria Town Talk reported. "We've been needing these rooms for a long time."

The tower will open in 2012.
