Residents worried about Winnebago Tribe plan to reopen casino

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is seeing opposition to its plan to reopen the shuttered WinnaVegas Casino.

The tribe closed the casino on June 10 due to flooding from Missouri River. Woodbury County in Iowa shut down the only road to the facility.

The tribe wants to place trap bags on the road in order to drain the water. But nearby residents said they are worried about water being diverted to their property.

The board of supervisors did not approve or reject the plan but asked the tribe to talk to state and federal agencies. Another meeting is scheduled for July 12.
